“The idea behind this is to bring awareness to the issue of unsustainable palm oil harvesting and its effects on the environment, particularly how it’s affecting the ever shrinking orangutan population and it was my goal to show this through a 36x48” poster design.

The intended experience that I want to evoke from this piece is shock (this would be more effective if viewed in person since it is meant to be a large print). The design principles used are repetition & contrast, the repetition is seen through all the products stacked on the infinite shelf while contrast is seen in the use of colour & light. It is my intension to have the viewer first spot the bright orange Orangutan hanging at the top left corner of the poster and follow its shadow across the shelf while also seeing the different recognisable brand logo’s that pop up in different parts of the poster. The logos represent a few of the many global brands that are responsible for causing destruction to the Orangutan habitat which as a result has reduced the Primates population by 84% since the 90’s).”
